How To Install a Wire Retainer

Normally when using the Flat Sheet Filter Medias you will need a Frame to house the Filter Media or the use of a Wire Retainer installed into your return air vent. We have attached a video showing you how to install a Wire Retainer into your return air vent.

MERV Rating

MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value

MERV 1-4

Filters with a rating of 1-4 will protect against large particles only. Things like dust, pollen, carpet fibers and cockroach body parts can be controlled with these filters. They are often found in residential window units and don’t do much to improve the air quality in your home.

MERV 5-8

If a filter has a medium-quality MERV rating (ranging from 5-8), it will collect hairspray, mold spores, pet dander and dust mite droppings. Generally, between 20%-70% of large particles are captured with these filters. They are usually a good option for residential systems.

MERV 9-12

A filter with a high-quality MERV rating (ranging from 9-12) can collect up to 90% of air particles. These are the best-quality filters you can buy for residential equipment, and are beneficial if you or a family member suffers from severe allergies or asthma. They are often found in commercial systems as well.

MERV 13+

Filters with a very high MERV rating (13+) are usually used in hospitals and manufacturing environments. They are designed to filter very small particles such as those found in viruses, smoke, bacteria and more. Most residential equipment will not accommodate filters with ratings in this range.
